Surely if my existing stereo can access the mp3s from my NAS then a piece of kit costing nearly £300 made specifically for streaming can also access the NAS without having to install software on the NAS? Is this correct? Surely that's madness if that's correct - If I have to have my pc on then there's hardly any point in the Squeezebox at all, I may as well just plug my pc directly into my stereo and play via itunes! However, having bought the Squeezebox it now seems that I can't use it with the NAS (without my pc turned on) unless I can somehow install software on the NAS itself (which I doubt is easy, if at all possible). Because all of my music on the NAS is organised through itunes on the PC it can find everything on the NAS providing the laptop is turned on. I have set up my Squeezebox and it's working fine with my PC.

I have a stereo that can access this NAS via the network but it is cumbersome to search for music so I thought I would get a Squeezebox Duet to make it easier and view artwork etc. It's nothing special (Maxtor Shared Storage Drive 300GB) This stays on all the time so that I can access the music on it without turning on my computer. Hi, I am new to the Squeezebox so please forgive me if I am repeating anything here but I've had a quick look and can't find anything.
